Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy

Our team at Upstate Spine & Sport works together to progress you through our unique integrated programs to offer a streamlined physical therapy service that’s designed just for you.

Do you leak when you cough or sneeze? Maybe you are having trouble with regular bowel movements. Struggling during pregnancy or postpartum? These issues and others are signs to seek out pelvic floor physical therapy.

Discomfort within the pelvic region during sex, as well as difficulty with urination or bowel movements, are often related to pelvic floor dysfunction. Our goal is to diagnose the root cause of the issue, which isn’t necessarily always the pelvis. This means a full body assessment, keeping it simple, and finding the root cause of your issue.

If you are looking for relief, our team at Upstate Spine & Sport can assist you. We are leaders in pelvic floor physical therapy in Greenville, SC. Our dynamic approach is all about problem-solving and guiding you with a clear plan. We communicate as a team and often co-manage patients with chiropractic care, acupuncture, and massage therapy to expedite results.

It is time to try pelvic physical therapy in Greenville, SC, if you are experiencing any of the following issues:

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy | Upstate Spine & Sport

Reasons for Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy

Pregnancy and Postpartum:

During and after pregnancy, women experience immense physical changes. It is important to either take preventative action or seek out treatment when needed after pregnancy to ensure your body makes a full recovery. We recommend contacting us if you are unsure of how to recover from childbirth, are experiencing pain during pregnancy or intercourse, or have had a diastasis recti diagnosis.

Bladder and Bowel:

If you are experiencing problems with urination or bowel movements, pelvic floor physical therapy can be vital in helping you return to normal function. Common issues include urinary leakage, urgency, frequent urination, hemorrhoids, difficulty with bowel movements, pelvic pressure, & prolapse diagnosis.

Prolapse:

It isn’t unusual for the position of organs to drop, contributing to urinary leakage, difficulty voiding, or pelvic pressure. We understand that sounds scary, but it is extremely common for women after vaginal birth. It is important to see a pelvic health therapist for this to determine the best treatment plan for helping your body regain the support it needs.

Sexual Pain and Discomfort:

Experiencing pain during sexual intercourse is not normal, but it is more common than most people think. If you are having chronic pain during sex, tailbone or lower back pain, or vaginal pressure, pelvic floor physical therapy can help.

Pelvic Health For Men:

Men are also prone to chronic pelvic pain. Diagnoses such as chronic prostatitis or tailbone pain are often due to pelvic floor muscle dysfunction, and treatments for prostate cancer will often cause urinary leakage. If you are experiencing these or other symptoms such as pain or frequent urination, a pelvic floor therapist will work with you and help you get back to a symptom-free life.

Pelvic Pain:

Chronic pain is an epidemic and unfortunately, poorly understood. Pelvic pain can be particularly complex as it can involve so many different systems – your bladder, bowels, reproductive symptoms, even your abdominals, back, and hips! We guide you on how to reduce and manage your pain, increase your activity, and take back control of your life.

Our Mission

We are committed, passionate, and skilled professionals who work with humility. We want to meet you where you’re at. Our goal is to become partners with you in your care and to guide you in your healing process.

Brooke changed my life! I thought I might never be able to have sex again, but your work made it comfortable and fun again. I can’t thank you enough! You gave me my life back. – KL

I cannot recommend Brooke highly enough! As a new mom, I had a lot going on! It was a relief to practice exercises with Brooke for my diastasis recti to ensure I was doing them correctly. Pelvic floor therapy is amazing, I wasn’t even close to engaging my deep core correctly. I’m now back running and loving life. – EJ
